William Neil Phillips, age 89, of Anderson, SC, passed away Monday, February 27, 2023, at Rainey Hospice House. Born October 6, 1933, in Lowndesville, SC, he was a son of the late John William Phillips and Lucille Manning Phillips. He was married to Sheila Pettit Phillips until her death in 2004. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Walter Phillips; and son-in-law, Jeff Makison. Neil was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 37 years. He loved golf and spending time with his family. He dedicated his life to the Lord and Eureka Baptist Church. He is survived by his sons, John N. Phillips (Jody) and Robert M. Phillips (Donna); daughter, Susan Phillips Makison; brother, Wade Phillips; grandchildren, Mandy Griffin (Jay), Haley Anna Phillips, Nick Phillips, and Alex Phillips; and 5 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Saturday, March 4, 2023, from 12:00-1:15 pm at Eureka Baptist Church. The funeral service will begin at 1:30 pm with Rev. Mike Harvell officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Eureka Baptist Church, 1600 US-29 N., Anderson, SC 29621.
