WILLIAM B. SWANNJuly 9, 1930-November 7, 2009 Mr. William Bernard Swann, age 79 of 100 Lakeland Drive, died Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born in Washington, D.C., he was a son of the late Albert Swann and Myrtle Louise Tubbs Swann Tull. He was a United States Navy Veteran and served in the United States Coast Guard Reserve for nine years. Mr. Swann was a retired Captain of the Washington D.C. Fire Department. Following his retirement, he was a loss control representative of Harleysville Insurance Company for 23 years. He was an avid bowler and was a member of the Friday Senior Bowling League and the Tuesday Senior Strikers Leagues. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Betty Ann Sparshott Swann of the home; his son, William Lee Swann and his wife Lauri of Orangeburg, SC; daughter, Barbara Anne Burrell and her husband Bryan of Salisbury, NC; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth Ann Payne of Anderson, SC; and two cats called 'The Boys', Sammie and Shadow. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by Father Aubrey McNeil, OFM. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family is at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 from 6pm-8pm.
