Born in Iva, SC on May 25, 1921, Mr. Burdette was a son of the late Sam Burdette and Ola Gilreath Burdette and the husband of the late Sybil Gailey Griffin Burdette. He was a United States Army World War II veteran. He worked in textiles for many years and having retired from Riverside Mill. He was a member of Greater Harvest Pentecostal Holiness Church. Survivors include his daughters, Drusilla Alewine of Lavonia, GA, Patsy Davis of Anderson and Arlene Ricketts of Iva; sons, Doyle Griffin, Jimmy Griffin and Ronnie Griffin, all of Anderson; brothers, Leo Burdette of Anderson and Harold Burdette of Belton; 10 grandchildren 24 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Faye Woodard Burdette; son Dennis Larry Griffin; brothers, Sammy, Theo and Henry Burdette and sister, Zoah B. Ayers.The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at 12:30 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverends Frank Whitfield and Shane Elrod.
