William McKinley Haggerty, age 82, passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at the Rainey Hospice House. Born in Oconee County, SC, on February 14, 1933, he was the son of the late Elbert McKinley Haggerty and the late Pearl Price Haggerty Alexander. He proudly served his country in the United States Army for two years, the Air Force for four years, and the SC National Guard for three years. He retired from Libco Carpets in Liberty, SC. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed raising chickens, watching football, especially the Clemson Tigers, and spending time with his family and best buddy, Bogey. Willie was a member of LaFrance Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Louise Willis Haggerty; a son, Edward McKinley Haggerty, of Sandy Springs, SC; a daughter, Deborah Haggerty Bright and her husband LeBron, of Greenwood, SC; grandsons, Delano LeBron "Bron" Bright, Jr. (Marisa) and Braden McKinley Bright (Anne Miller), both of Greenwood, SC; granddaughters, Mary Haley Bright Shirley (Carlyle) and Elizabeth Haggerty, both of Anderson, SC; a special aunt, Dolly Buchanan Durham; and numerous brother and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James Elmer Haggerty, and Ralph Thomas Haggerty; and two sisters, Annie Lois Haggerty Shiflet and Mary Mildred Haggerty Evans. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend Albert Couch and Reverend Gene Burdette officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens, Clemson, SC with Military Honors.
