WILLLIE HANNAJanuary 30, 1927 - October 11, 2008LOWNDESVILLE, SCMrs. Willie Rema Hanna of 286 Main St, Lowndesville, SC, died Saturday, October 11, 2008 at Brookside Living Center, Anderson, SC.Born January 30, 1927, Willie was a daughter of the late Thomas C. Parnell and Eunice McCurry McCullough Parnell. She graduated in 1944 from Lowndesville High School and retired from Milliken, Abbeville Mills, after 45 years of service. She was a member of Smyrna United Methodist Church, where she served on the Pastor Parish Relations Committee, U.M.W., and taught a Kindergarten Sunday School Class. All of her life, Willie, resided in Lowndesville, SC and was an active member of the Town Council, having served for 27 years, until her death. She worked with the Elections Commission and had served as chairman of the Community Club, the Lowndesville Beauty Pageant, and the Lowndesville Christmas Parade. She was responsible for the Veteran's Memorial and other community philanthropic events for the benefit of others in need. Willie was the Grande Dame of Lowndesville.She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Ewell E. Hanna, Sr.; her son, Eldridge Hanna and his wife, Janice; two sisters, Rhunette Harvey and Robbie Spires; one grandson, Justin Hanna and his wife, Tiffany; two great-grandchildren, Kenzly and Justine Hanna, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and four brothers, Clyde, Furman, Floyd and Mike McCullough.The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 13, 2008 at 2:00 pm at Smyrna United Methodist Church with the Reverends Nena Reynolds and Scotty Willoughby officiating. Interment will follow in Smyrna Cemetery.The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 12, 2008 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home.
