WILLIE RUTH PAYNE September 30, 1923 - September 18, 2006ANDERSON, SCMrs. Willie Ruth Freeman Payne, age 82, wife of Omer Roy Payne of 225 Hillman Drive, Anderson, SC, died Monday, September 18, 2006 at the Hospice House in Anderson, SC. Born in Royston, GA on September 30, 1923, Mrs. Payne was the daughter of the late William T. Freeman and Josie Ray Freeman. She was retired from Abney Mills with 28 years of service and was a member of Unity Baptist Church.Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Omer Roy Payne of the home; daughters, Hilda Jo Charping and Myra Ellen Hoffman, both of Anderson and three grandchildren, Roy C. Payne of Anderson, SC, Crystal D. Culbertson of Starr, SC and John A. Charping of Greenville; five great-grandchildren; brother, Azel Freeman of Orangeburg, SC and sister, Rachel Harris of Anderson, SC.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, William Thomas Payne; grandson, Arthur Clifford Charping III; a brother, A. M. Freeman and four sisters, Margaret Cummings Taylor, Cora Karr, Evie Adams and Betty Jo Brock.The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Lloyd Robison. Interment will follow in New Silverbrook Cemetery in Anderson.The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 19, 2006 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.The family will be at the residence.
