RAY THOMPSONJULY 26, 1921 - OctoBER 12, 2007ANDERSON, SCMr. Wilton Ray Thompson, age 86, formerly of 306 Quail Run, died on Friday, October 12, 2007 at Brookside Living Center. Mr. Thompson was born on July 26, 1921 in the Salem Township of Oconee County and was a son of the late George W. Thompson and Rose Anna Thompson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Dunlap Thompson; brothers: Wade H. Thompson, George Earle Thompson, and Calvin M. Thompson; sisters: Clara T. Compton, Laura T. Murphree, Gladys Thompson, and Edith T. Steele. Mr. Thompson is survived by his daughter, Lisa Ann Thompson of Anderson. He was a Real Estate Developer, having been President of W. Ray Thompson Co. in Anderson; W. Ray developed numerous Anderson subdivisions, including Meadow Brook Heights, Echo Trail, Huntington Hills, Beaver Creek, Devonshire, Farmington, and Quail Hollow. Mr. Thompson was also the former President of the Home Builders Association of Anderson, a former member of the Kiwanis Club of Anderson, and the Anderson Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of Boulevard Baptist Church. Mr. Thompson was a graduate of Keowee High School in Oconee County where he won the Good Citizenship Medal. He also attended Anderson College. He worked eighteen years as a linotype operator at the Independent Publishing Company, for Mr. Wilton E. Hall. A Graveside Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, October 14, 2007 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, conducted by the Reverend Dr. Paul Talmadge and the Reverend Elwood Orr. The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 4124 Clemson Boulevard, Suite L, Anderson, South Carolina 29621.
