Metz of 624 Project Road, Iva, SC, died Saturday, January 14, 2006 at Willow Creek Nursing Home in Iva, SC.Born in Anderson County, SC, he was a son of the late Walter Magnus Metz and Mary Alberta Bowie Metz. He was retired from Jackson Mill and a member of Iva First Wesleyan Church. Mr. Metz was a United States Army World War II veteran and was a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Ribbon, Purple Heart Medal and the Eamet Ribbon with the Bronze Star. He was also a POW-Prisoner of War for 27 months. Survivors include his wife, Grace S. Metz of the home; a son, Ottman Metz of Iva, SC; step-children, Debbie Clardy of Iva, SC and Gina Donn of Laurens, SC and Danny Bryant of Anderson, SC; brothers, Winford 'Big Boy' Metz, Bronsil Metz, Jimmy Metz, Russell Metz, all of Iva, SC and Jack Metz of Anderson, SC; sisters, Grace Lawton of Iva, SC and Martha Faye Greenway of Anderson, SC; three grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild and three step-great-grandchildren.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Cora Lois Robinson Metz; brothers, Walter, Evans, Woodrow and Baker Metz and a sister, Mary Metz Alexander.The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 16, 2006 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverends Wade Rogers and Steve Wagers.
