He was a United States Army World War II veteran and was a member of the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles. He was a charter member of Pope Drive Baptist Church. Survivors include his son, Donnie Richey and his wife, Joyce of Belton; daughter, Sharon Durham of Evans, GA; brother, Charles Richey and sister, Bessie McAlister, both of Anderson; three grandchildren, Jennifer Suber, Danny Durham, Jr., and Andrew Durham and two great-grandchildren, Dylan Suber and Easton Suber.In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Louise Whitfield Richey and his second wife, Eunice Payne Whitfield Richey; six brother and two sisters.The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 27, 2009 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Mack Tester. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Military Honors by the Upstate Veterans Honor Guard.The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, from 6-8 pm.The family will be at the home of his son, Donnie Richey, 560 Hammond Road, Belton, SC.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pope Drive Baptist Church, 2510 Pope Drive, Anderson, SC 29625 or Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
