Douglas C. McDougald, Jr. President and Funeral Director

In 1963, Douglas McDougald, Jr. joined the firm founded by his father. This came after graduation from Anderson Boy’s High School, Presbyterian College and two years of service in the United States Army. Douglas is married to the former Peggy Fretwell, also a native of Anderson and a frequent contributor to the firm’s activities. Douglas is an elder and past trustee of the First Presbyterian Church. He also is a former member of the board of trustees of Presbyterian College. He is a past president of the South Carolina Funeral Directors Association.

Among other activities, he serves on the board of Innovate Anderson and was chairman of the steering committee of Imagine Anderson 2020. Douglas is a member and a past president of the Anderson Rotary Club. In the past, he has served on the boards of the YMCA, the American Red Cross, the American Cancer Society and the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce. He is the father of Doug III and Jess, full partners in The McDougald Funeral Home.

Peggy Fretwell McDougald Family Care and Public Relations

Peggy was born in Anderson, South Carolina, the daughter of Sam and Peggy Fretwell. She is a graduate of the University of South Carolina where she served as an officer on the student council. Later, she was chosen to Chair the University’s Board of Visitors and was a member of the Development Foundation.

She, along with her husband, is a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Anderson, and has held several roles there. For over 20 years Peggy has taught the 4 and 5 year old Sunday School Class, and has been an officer of the Presbyterian Women’s organization and a Circle Leader. Peggy has served as Chairman of the Cancer Association of Anderson and also a Board member of Anderson Heritage. In addition she was a member of the Anderson Area YMCA’s Board of Directors and has served as its Chairman. She was also on the YMCA Building and Design Committee. Peggy brings much experience in the area of Community and Public Relations.

Douglas C. McDougald, III CFSP Vice President; Funeral Director

Douglas McDougald III joined The McDougald Funeral Home in 1989. Douglas is a 1985 graduate of T.L. Hanna High School graduate and a 1989 graduate of the University of South Carolina. He is Past President of the South Carolina Funeral Directors Association and is past chairman of the SCFDA Piedmont group. Douglas also serves on the AnMed Health Advisory Board. He is a member of the Anderson Rotary Club and the Anderson University Board of Emerging Leaders. He is a former board member of the United Way, Partners for a Healthy Community, YMCA, Anderson Interfaith Ministries and a Leadership Anderson graduate. Doug is a member of the National Funeral Directors Association, where he serves on the Governance Committee.

Douglas and his family are active members of the First Presbyterian Church where he is an Elder. He is married to the former Tricia Herbert. They have three children, Max, Ben and Meg.

Tricia McDougald Family Care and Community Relations

Tricia is a graduate of T.L. Hanna High School in Anderson and of Clemson University. She, along with her husband and family, is a member of First Presbyterian Church of Anderson, and is a member of the Junior League of Anderson County. Tricia serves on the Board of Anderson Interfaith Ministries and a former Board Member of Safe Harbor. She is the Donor Development Director of the Anderson County Arts Center. Tricia is a Family Care and Community Relations associate at The McDougald Funeral Home.

Jesse McDougald Vice President; Funeral Director

Jess McDougald is a lifelong resident of Anderson and began working in the family business in 1994. He is a graduate of T.L. Hanna High School and Presbyterian College and a recipient of a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of South Carolina. Jess is married to the former Greer Stokes and they have two children, Sarah Grace and Wells. Jess is a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Anderson and the Anderson Rotary Club. He is currently serving on the board of directors for the Anderson Area YMCA and Hospice of the Upstate. In his spare time, Jess enjoys working out, lake activities and coaching youth basketball and baseball.

Greer McDougald Family Care and Community Relations

Greer is a native of Irmo, South Carolina. She is a graduate of Clemson University with a degree in Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management, with a minor in Marketing. She serves on the Board of Directors of United Way, and is active in a number of local projects and organizations. She and her husband, Jess, have two children, Wells and Sarah Grace. They are active members of First Presbyterian Church of Anderson. Greer is a Family Care and Community Relations Associate at The McDougald Funeral Home.

Rick holds a Bachelor's of Science in Management from Erskine College and an Associate's degree in Funeral Services from Piedmont Technical College. He is married to Sandy Patterson Bradshaw, he has three children, Matt, Drew, and Luke, and four grandchildren. He has a long history in insurance sales and is very knowledgeable in the funeral industry. He serves as a member of the Anderson School District 5 Board of Trustees and The Greater Anderson Rotary Club. He is a member of the NFDA and the SCFDA.

William Todd Capps Funeral Director and Embalmer todd@mcdougaldfuneralhome.com

Todd, born in Asheville, NC, to Robert “Bobby” Capps and Louedith Wiggins Watkins in 1972 is no stranger to funeral service. His grandfather and grandmother, Dewey and Treca Capps, owned and operated American Eagle Vault Company in Enka, NC for several years. His father Bobby worked at this vault company and learned at an early age that his passion was for funeral service. After graduating from The Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science and completing an apprenticeship at Groce Funeral Home in Asheville, NC, his father Bobby purchased Holcombe-Capps Funeral Home in Mars Hill, NC and that business still operates as Blue Ridge Funeral Service and Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel today. While working in the summers washing cars, putting up hill side funeral tents, and placing grave markers for his father’s business, Todd knew in his mind that someday he too, would pursue funeral service as a career. Todd graduated from Pfeiffer University 1995 where he played baseball for the Falcons and graduated with honors with a B.S. in Biology. Shortly after his graduation from Pfeiffer, Todd attended and graduated with honors from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in Decatur, GA under the expert teaching of Dr. Daniel E. Buchanan and was the recipient of Dr. Buchanan’s award for his display of enthusiasm while there at Gupton-Jones. Todd was a member of Pi Sigma Eta Academic Fraternity. Since graduation, his career has been a successful one including ownership of his own business in Burnsville, NC, Yancey Funeral Service, which still operates today. Todd possesses a dual license for funeral directing and embalming in both North Carolina and South Carolina and a Life and Health Insurance License in South Carolina. Todd is also a Notary Public. “Although funerals are not good experiences, it’s my goal as a funeral director to sincerely create a positive funeral experience for each client family I have the privilege of serving.” Todd has been with The McDougald Funeral Home since July of 2013.

Cindy Culbertson is a native of Anderson, SC. She graduated with honors from Tri-County Technical College with a degree in Business Management and Magna Cum Laude from Anderson University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services. Cindy is also a recipient of a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Anderson University, and has been with The McDougald Funeral Home since April of 2012.  She is a member of West Anderson Church of God, Kiwanis Club of Anderson, the National Funeral Directors Association and the South Carolina Funeral Directors Association. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her two children, Breanna and Tyler.

Vince Floyd is a native of Toccoa, Georgia, and is a graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service. He has been in funeral service since he was a teenager, and is a licensed funeral director and embalmer in both South Carolina and Georgia. Vince’s love and compassion for people makes his career fulfilling and meaningful. He is a member of Free Chapel, and enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Jay Hodge is a native of Abbeville, SC. He is a graduate of Erskine College, Class of 1996, and Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science, Class of 2000. Jay has been on the staff of The McDougald Funeral Home since June of 1996 and is licensed as a funeral director and embalmer. He is a member of the Anderson Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. Jay is a member of the NFDA, SCFDA and the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice where he holds the CFSP status. Jay is an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Anderson, where he holds the office of Deacon, sings tenor in the Chancel Choir, rings in the Chancel Chimers, and is organist for the Men’s Bible Class. Jay also sings tenor with the GAMAC Chorale and other Anderson area community choirs.

Jason McClain, a native of Anderson, SC, has been an associate of The McDougald Funeral Home since 2006. He received is Associates Degree from Piedmont Technical College in the Funeral Service program. Jason is married to Jill McClain and they enjoy spending time with family, friends and their dog, Bowman. In his spare time, Jason enjoys volunteering at Gospel Light Baptist Church, collecting antiques, traveling, helping people and watching birds. Jason is a member of Anderson Elks Lodge 1206. Lisa joined the staff of The McDougald Funeral Home in June, 2017, where she manages the vital records and obituary office. She began her career in funeral service in 2004 at Chapman Funeral Home in St. Albans, West Virginia. With over fourteen years’ experience, she feels that working in the funeral profession is a ministry.
She and her husband, Terry relocated to Iva, SC in June 2017. They attend the Iva First Baptist Church. She has two grown children, Corey and Tori, and two fur babies, Baylee and Shadow. During her spare time, Lisa enjoys spending time with her family and dogs and playing recreational volleyball.

Kristopher Smith, a native of Atlanta, GA, is licensed as a funeral director and embalmer in the states of South Carolina and Georgia. Juanita Thomas, a native of Anderson, has been an associate of The McDougald Funeral Home since 1988. She provides administrative support for insurance claims and for the preneed department. Juanita is also Human Resource Administrator for The McDougald Funeral Home. She is an active member of Neals Creek Baptist Church in Belton where she serves as WMU President and M & M Circle Group Leader. Juanita was married to the late Jim Thomas and they have three children and six grandchildren. She is a great grandmother of two, and in her spare time she enjoys sewing, camping and spending time with her family.

George Tucker is a native of Greenville, SC, and has been an associate of The McDougald Funeral Home since 1979. He is a member of Oakwood Baptist Church in Anderson. George is married to Mary Tribble Tucker, and they have three daughters and five grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoys model railroading, collecting antiques, playing his guitar and singing southern gospel music. He also enjoys spending time with his family at his mountain home in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

Andrew M. Weatherford Funeral Director and Embalmer

Andrew Weatherford is a native of Greenville, SC. He is a graduate of Greenville Technical College and a graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science in the Class of 1994.

Andrew resides in Easley, SC and is married to Beverly S. Weatherford. They have three adult children and a dog, "Skittles." An amateur artist, Andrew enjoys painting landscapes in his spare time. He and his wife attend the Mill Church in Pickens, SC.

Shane Bradley Part-Time Funeral Director

Shane Bradley joined the McDougald Funeral Home in January 1994. After five years of full-time service, he left to pursue a career in education. He lives in Due West with his wife Sharon and their two children, Sadie and Sloan. He teaches English at Dixie High School, and he directs the writing program at Erskine College, where he is an assistant professor of English. Shane is a 1993 graduate of Anderson University, and he holds master's degrees from Clemson University and Lander University. He is a member of Due West ARP Church, and he recently finished a twenty-year run as a member of Due West's Town Council. A licensed funeral director, Shane considers it a privilege to continue his association with the McDougald Funeral Home on a part-time basis.

Daniel E. Buchanan Part-Time Funeral Director and Embalmer

Born in Alamance County, North Carolina, Dan moved to Anderson with his family when in the 6th grade, where his father was Executive Presbyter of the Piedmont Presbytery. He is a 1966 graduate of T.L. Hanna High School in Anderson. It was during that time that he started working at The McDougald Funeral Home on a part-time basis. He is a 1970 graduate of King College in Bristol, TN, and received a Master of Arts degree from Central Michigan University. Dan is a 1974 honor graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science in Atlanta, where he was a member and an officer of PI SIGMA ETA, a national scholastic mortuary science fraternity.

After graduating from King College, he served in the US Army at the US Army Mortuary in Saigon, Vietnam, then later at the US Army Mortuary in Oakland, CA. He was offered a position teaching at Gupton-Jones College, his alma mater, a position he accepted and enjoyed a career of 28 years at Gupton-Jones College where he served as instructor, Dean, and for 18 years as its President. He served as chairman of the American Board of Funeral Service Education and as President of the National Association of Colleges of Mortuary Science. He was also a member of the American Board Committee on Accreditation, having served as its chairman.

Dan is a licensed funeral director and embalmer, and is a member of the National Funeral Directors Association and the South Carolina Funeral Directors Association. He is Operations Manager and a Funeral Director at The McDougald Funeral Home.

Dan is a member of Central Presbyterian Church in Anderson, and is an ordained Elder in the Presbyterian Church, USA.

Mack Buchanan Part-Time Funeral Director and Embalmer

Mack Buchanan, a native of Anderson, is a licensed funeral director and embalmer and has been on staff with The McDougald Funeral Home since 1970. He is a 1972 graduate of the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science and a 1977 graduate of Clemson University. He is a member of the Georgia Academy of Graduate Embalmers, the National Funeral Directors Association, the South Carolina Funeral Directors Association, the Professional Car Society and New Prospect Baptist Church in Anderson. He is married to Patti McLane Buchanan and they have two sons, Russell and David. In his spare time he enjoys crafting Lenox lamps and riding in his Corvette convertible.

Barbara A. Cannon Part-Time Administrative Assistant and Family Care Receptionist

A native of Athens, Georgia, Barbara A. Cannon has been an associate with The McDougald Funeral Home since 1999. After retiring in 2012 as Vital Records and Obituary Administrator, she now works part-time as an Administrative Assistant and Family Care Receptionist. She is married to Johnny Cannon who is a former pastor and previously served as administrator of Blue Mountain Children's Home in Blue Mountain, MS. They have extended family which includes several daughters and grandchildren. She is a member of Sanctuary of Praise where she serves as a Pastoral Care Minister and Hospitality Associate. For many years, Barbara and her husband have been volunteers with the area nursing homes and assisted living facilities taking a church service to residents on a monthly basis. In her spare time, Barbara enjoys reading, fishing, playing keyboard and singing gospel music.

Hank Dillard was born and raised in Anderson, South Carolina. He is an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Anderson and is a part of the Youth Group there. Hank is a student at TL Hanna High School and is on the golf team. Hank has been elected and has served as President of his class for the past three years. He is an active member of his community and is a big fan of the Clemson Tigers. In his free time, Hank enjoys playing golf, working out, spending time with friends, and hunting. He enjoys spending time at the lake and at the beach and enjoying his State of South Carolina. Hank is a proud American and South Carolinian, and he loves his community.

Sue Evans is a native of Anderson, SC and has been on staff of The McDougald Funeral Home since 2006. She is a family care receptionist. She is an active member of Temple Baptist Church in Anderson, and is married to Rudy Evans. They have three daughters and three grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, baking, reading and spending time with her family and friends.

Harriet James Part-Time Administrative Assistant & Family Care Receptionist

Harriet James, a native of Anderson, has been on staff with The McDougald Funeral Home since 2008. She works part time as a Family Care Receptionist. She is an active member of Oakwood Baptist Church having worked for the church for forty-eight years as financial secretary and church secretary. She is also a member of the church choir. Harriet was married to the late Bill James and they have a daughter, Meloni James, and a son, Van James. She enjoys spending time at the beach with family and friends.

Eddie Kerr, a native of West Union, is a licensed funeral director and embalmer. He has been on staff with The McDougald Funeral Home since 1966. He is a 1969 graduate of the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science. He is a member of Pi Sigma Eta fraternity, the National Funeral Directors Association, the South Carolina Funeral Directors Association, the Georgia Academy of Graduate Embalmers, the Elks Lodge #1206 and numerous other civic and professional organizations. Eddie is also a former member of the South Carolina Board of Funeral Service where he served as secretary. He is a member of the First Baptist Church of Anderson and attends Neals Creek Baptist Church. He is married to Patricia Greenway Kerr, also an employee of The McDougald Funeral Home, and they have three children and six grandchildren.

Patricia Kerr Part-Time Family Care & Community Relations

Patricia Kerr, a native of Iva, SC has been on staff with The McDougald Funeral Home since 1969. She is a graduate of Forrest College and serves as one of our Family Care and Community Relations associates. She is also an organist and a beautician for the funeral home. She is a member of Neals Creek Baptist Church where she is the church organist. She is married to Eddie Kerr, a funeral director with The McDougald Funeral Home, and they have three children and six grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoys her grandchildren and watching The Andy Griffith Show, Hallmark movies, and Lifetime movies.

Wendell Madray Part-Time Funeral Director and Embalmer

Wendell Madray, originally from Sylvania, GA, has lived in the Upstate since 1991, and he is a licensed funeral director and embalmer. He has been in funeral service since 1976 and is a 1978 graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science. He is a member of the National Funeral Directors Association and the South Carolina Funeral Directors Association. He is married to Donna Lariscy Madray and they have two children, Ryan and Kendall.

Ricky McAdams Part-Time Funeral Assistant

Born in Townville, SC, Ricky has been employed with The McDougald Funeral Home since 2000 as a Part-Time Funeral Assistant. He retired after more than 34 years of service from the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce as a District Manager. He is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Double Springs Volunteer Fire Department, Anderson County DSS Advisory Board, and a member of Double Springs Baptist Church. Ricky has lived in Townville all of his life where his family began a long-time farming operation, which Ricky still operates today. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family at his mountain home and playing music with several bands.

Karen McClain Part-Time Family Care Receptionist

Born in the State of Tennessee, Karen has been on the staff of The McDougald Funeral Home where she has served as a part-time Family Care Receptionist since 2008. She also works with Anderson School District V in the transportation department. Karen is married to Al McClain of McClain Farms where they raised three children, Jason, Whitney and Clay. Karen also has three grandchildren who she loves dearly. Karen and Al are active members of Covenant Baptist Church. Her favorite past-time is to spend quality time with her family.

Beth McConnell Part-Time Administrative Assistant and Family Care Receptionist

Beth McConnell is a native of Anderson, SC. She is retired from BellSouth Corporation. She graduated from Forrest College, and attended Limestone College and Anderson College. Beth has a Master’s certification in Project Management from George Washington University and is a Certified Facilitator in Management Skills and Quality Assurance. She was the 1992 South Carolina Career Woman of the Year, was on the Planning Committee for and served as Treasurer of the International Quality Conference hosted by BellSouth, was an official 1996 Olympic Volunteer, and is a Life Member of Telephone Pioneers of America.

She has been an associate of The McDougald Funeral Home since 2004 where she serves as family care receptionist. She is a member of Concord Baptist Church in Anderson and a former Sunday School teacher. She is married to Derrill McConnell, the retired Chief of the Anderson City Police Department. They have three children and one grandson. In her spare time, she enjoys swimming, traveling and spending time with her grandson.

Jeff McGuffin Part-Time Funeral Assistant

Jeff McGuffin is a native of Anderson, SC and has been on the staff of The McDougald Funeral Home since March 2017 as a part-time funeral assistant. For over thirty years, Jeff has worked as a trucker, and for the last fifteen years, he drove for Kroger Bakery. He is an active member of Temple Baptist Church in Anderson. He and his wife, Lynn, have three children, Leslie, Katie, and Paul, and three grandchildren. In his spare time, Jeff enjoys horseback riding, boating and spending time with family and friends.

Mike Rippy Part-Time Funeral Assistant

Mike Rippy moved to Anderson from Bluffton, SC in 2010, with his wife, Janet. They embraced the community by becoming involved in Outreach with Grace Episcopal Church where they are very active members. Mike spends much free time volunteering time and talent to support the Greater Anderson Community. Mike appreciates the opportunity to care for people in his capacity with McDougald Funeral Home. His five children and nine grandchildren are scattered throughout the US. Mike and Janet have met wonderful people and made great friends in Anderson. They have found Anderson to be a great place to call “home.”

Debra Whitmire Part-Time Administrative Assistant & Family Care Receptionist

Debra Whitmire is a native of Anderson, and has been on staff as a Family Care Receptionist with The McDougald Funeral Home since 2005. She is an active member of Middleton Road Baptist Church where she has served as pianist for over 24 years and in various other positions. She is married to Billy Whitmire and they have one son and three grandchildren. In her spare time she enjoys reading, cooking, gardening, and walking.

Cory Young Part-Time Funeral Assistant

Originally from Bartow, FL Cory grew up in Athens, Ga. He received his undergraduate degree from Erskine College and then went on to The University of Georgia and earned his Masters Degree in Student Personnel in Higher Education. Cory then returned to Erskine College where he worked for 20 years in both Student Services and Admissions and finished his tenure as Director of Admissions. Now living in Due West, Cory enjoys traveling, spending time with his family, yard work, playing golf, and working out. Cory believes that working at The McDougald Funeral Home is a true ministry and the opportunity to serve others is both a joy and a calling.

He is a former board member of the United Way, Partners for a Healthy Community, YMCA, Anderson Interfaith Ministries and a Leadership Anderson graduate. Doug is a member of the National Funeral Directors Association, where he serves on the Governance Committee.

Douglas and his family are active members of the First Presbyterian Church where he is an Elder. He is married to the former Tricia Herbert. They have three children, Max, Ben and Meg.

Tricia is a graduate of T.L. Hanna High School in Anderson and of Clemson University. She, along with her husband and family, is a member of First Presbyterian Church of Anderson, and is a member of the Junior League of Anderson County. Tricia serves on the Board of Anderson Interfaith Ministries and a former Board Member of Safe Harbor. She is the Donor Development Director of the Anderson County Arts Center. Jesse McDougald

Jess McDougald is a lifelong resident of Anderson and began working in the family business in 1994. He is a graduate of T.L. Hanna High School and Presbyterian College and a recipient of a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of South Carolina. Jess is married to the former Greer Stokes and they have two children, Sarah Grace and Wells. Jess is a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Anderson and the Anderson Rotary Club. He is currently serving on the board of directors for the Anderson Area YMCA and Hospice of the Upstate. In his spare time, Jess enjoys working out, lake activities and coaching youth basketball and baseball.

Greer is a native of Irmo, South Carolina. She is a graduate of Clemson University with a degree in Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management, with a minor in Marketing. She serves on the Board of Directors of United Way, and is active in a number of local projects and organizations. She and her husband, Jess, have two children, Wells and Sarah Grace. Rick Bradshaw

Rick holds a Bachelor's of Science in Management from Erskine College and an Associate's degree in Funeral Services from Piedmont Technical College. He is married to Sandy Patterson Bradshaw, he has three children, Matt, Drew, and Luke, and four grandchildren. He has a long history in insurance sales and is very knowledgeable in the funeral industry. He serves as a member of the Anderson School District 5 Board of Trustees and The Greater Anderson Rotary Club. He is a member of the NFDA and the SCFDA.

William Todd Capps

Todd, born in Asheville, NC, to Robert “Bobby” Capps and Louedith Wiggins Watkins in 1972 is no stranger to funeral service. His grandfather and grandmother, Dewey and Treca Capps, owned and operated American Eagle Vault Company in Enka, NC for several years. His father Bobby worked at this vault company and learned at an early age that his passion was for funeral service. After graduating from The Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science and completing an apprenticeship at Groce Funeral Home in Asheville, NC, his father Bobby purchased Holcombe-Capps Funeral Home in Mars Hill, NC and that business still operates as Blue Ridge Funeral Service and Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel today. While working in the summers washing cars, putting up hill side funeral tents, and placing grave markers for his father’s business, Todd knew in his mind that someday he too, would pursue funeral service as a career. Todd graduated from Pfeiffer University 1995 where he played baseball for the Falcons and graduated with honors with a B.S. in Biology. Shortly after his graduation from Pfeiffer, Todd attended and graduated with honors from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in Decatur, GA under the expert teaching of Dr. Daniel E. Buchanan and was the recipient of Dr. Buchanan’s award for his display of enthusiasm while there at Gupton-Jones. Todd was a member of Pi Sigma Eta Academic Fraternity. Since graduation, his career has been a successful one including ownership of his own business in Burnsville, NC, Yancey Funeral Service, which still operates today. Todd possesses a dual license for funeral directing and embalming in both North Carolina and South Carolina and a Life and Health Insurance License in South Carolina. Todd is also a Notary Public. “Although funerals are not good experiences, it’s my goal as a funeral director to sincerely create a positive funeral experience for each client family I have the privilege of serving.” Todd has been with The McDougald Funeral Home since July of 2013.

Cindy Culbertson

Cindy Culbertson is a native of Anderson, SC. She graduated with honors from Tri-County Technical College with a degree in Business Management and Magna Cum Laude from Anderson University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services. Cindy is also a recipient of a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Anderson University, and has been with The McDougald Funeral Home since April of 2012.  She is a member of West Anderson Church of God, Kiwanis Club of Anderson, the National Funeral Directors Association and the South Carolina Funeral Directors Association. Vince Floyd

Vince Floyd is a native of Toccoa, Georgia, and is a graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service. He has been in funeral service since he was a teenager, and is a licensed funeral director and embalmer in both South Carolina and Georgia. Jay Hodge, CFSP

Jay Hodge is a native of Abbeville, SC. He is a graduate of Erskine College, Class of 1996, and Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science, Class of 2000. Jay has been on the staff of The McDougald Funeral Home since June of 1996 and is licensed as a funeral director and embalmer. He is a member of the Anderson Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. Jay is a member of the NFDA, SCFDA and the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice where he holds the CFSP status. Jay is an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Anderson, where he holds the office of Deacon, sings tenor in the Chancel Choir, rings in the Chancel Chimers, and is organist for the Men’s Bible Class. Jay also sings tenor with the GAMAC Chorale and other Anderson area community choirs.

Lisa McComas

Lisa joined the staff of The McDougald Funeral Home in June, 2017, where she manages the vital records and obituary office. She began her career in funeral service in 2004 at Chapman Funeral Home in St. Albans, West Virginia. With over fourteen years’ experience, she feels that working in the funeral profession is a ministry.
She and her husband, Terry relocated to Iva, SC in June 2017. They attend the Iva First Baptist Church. She has two grown children, Corey and Tori, and two fur babies, Baylee and Shadow. During her spare time, Lisa enjoys spending time with her family and dogs and playing recreational volleyball.

Kristopher Smith

Juanita Thomas

Juanita Thomas, a native of Anderson, has been an associate of The McDougald Funeral Home since 1988. She provides administrative support for insurance claims and for the preneed department. Juanita is also Human Resource Administrator for The McDougald Funeral Home. She is an active member of Neals Creek Baptist Church in Belton where she serves as WMU President and M & M Circle Group Leader. Juanita was married to the late Jim Thomas and they have three children and six grandchildren. She is a great grandmother of two, and in her spare time she enjoys sewing, camping and spending time with her family.

George Tucker

George Tucker is a native of Greenville, SC, and has been an associate of The McDougald Funeral Home since 1979. He is a member of Oakwood Baptist Church in Anderson. George is married to Mary Tribble Tucker, and they have three daughters and five grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoys model railroading, collecting antiques, playing his guitar and singing southern gospel music. He also enjoys spending time with his family at his mountain home in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

Andrew M. Weatherford

Andrew Weatherford is a native of Greenville, SC. He is a graduate of Greenville Technical College and a graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science in the Class of 1994.

Andrew resides in Easley, SC and is married to Beverly S. Weatherford. They have three adult children and a dog, "Skittles." An amateur artist, Andrew enjoys painting landscapes in his spare time. He and his wife attend the Mill Church in Pickens, SC.

Shane Bradley

Shane Bradley joined the McDougald Funeral Home in January 1994. After five years of full-time service, he left to pursue a career in education. He lives in Due West with his wife Sharon and their two children, Sadie and Sloan. He teaches English at Dixie High School, and he directs the writing program at Erskine College, where he is an assistant professor of English. Shane is a 1993 graduate of Anderson University, and he holds master's degrees from Clemson University and Lander University. He is a member of Due West ARP Church, and he recently finished a twenty-year run as a member of Due West's Town Council. A licensed funeral director, Shane considers it a privilege to continue his association with the McDougald Funeral Home on a part-time basis.

Daniel E. Buchanan

Born in Alamance County, North Carolina, Dan moved to Anderson with his family when in the 6th grade, where his father was Executive Presbyter of the Piedmont Presbytery. He is a 1966 graduate of T.L. Hanna High School in Anderson. It was during that time that he started working at The McDougald Funeral Home on a part-time basis. He is a 1970 graduate of King College in Bristol, TN, and received a Master of Arts degree from Central Michigan University. Dan is a 1974 honor graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science in Atlanta, where he was a member and an officer of PI SIGMA ETA, a national scholastic mortuary science fraternity.

After graduating from King College, he served in the US Army at the US Army Mortuary in Saigon, Vietnam, then later at the US Army Mortuary in Oakland, CA. He was offered a position teaching at Gupton-Jones College, his alma mater, a position he accepted and enjoyed a career of 28 years at Gupton-Jones College where he served as instructor, Dean, and for 18 years as its President. He served as chairman of the American Board of Funeral Service Education and as President of the National Association of Colleges of Mortuary Science. He was also a member of the American Board Committee on Accreditation, having served as its chairman.

Dan is a licensed funeral director and embalmer, and is a member of the National Funeral Directors Association and the South Carolina Funeral Directors Association. He is Operations Manager and a Funeral Director at The McDougald Funeral Home.

Dan is a member of Central Presbyterian Church in Anderson, and is an ordained Elder in the Presbyterian Church, USA.

Mack Buchanan

Mack Buchanan, a native of Anderson, is a licensed funeral director and embalmer and has been on staff with The McDougald Funeral Home since 1970. He is a 1972 graduate of the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science and a 1977 graduate of Clemson University. He is a member of the Georgia Academy of Graduate Embalmers, the National Funeral Directors Association, the South Carolina Funeral Directors Association, the Professional Car Society and New Prospect Baptist Church in Anderson. He is married to Patti McLane Buchanan and they have two sons, Russell and David. In his spare time he enjoys crafting Lenox lamps and riding in his Corvette convertible.

Barbara A. Cannon

A native of Athens, Georgia, Barbara A. Cannon has been an associate with The McDougald Funeral Home since 1999. After retiring in 2012 as Vital Records and Obituary Administrator, she now works part-time as an Administrative Assistant and Family Care Receptionist. She is married to Johnny Cannon who is a former pastor and previously served as administrator of Blue Mountain Children's Home in Blue Mountain, MS. They have extended family which includes several daughters and grandchildren. She is a member of Sanctuary of Praise where she serves as a Pastoral Care Minister and Hospitality Associate. For many years, Barbara and her husband have been volunteers with the area nursing homes and assisted living facilities taking a church service to residents on a monthly basis. In her spare time, Barbara enjoys reading, fishing, playing keyboard and singing gospel music.

Hank Dillard

Hank Dillard was born and raised in Anderson, South Carolina. He is an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Anderson and is a part of the Youth Group there. Hank is a student at TL Hanna High School and is on the golf team. Hank has been elected and has served as President of his class for the past three years. He is an active member of his community and is a big fan of the Clemson Tigers. In his free time, Hank enjoys playing golf, working out, spending time with friends, and hunting. He enjoys spending time at the lake and at the beach and enjoying his State of South Carolina. Hank is a proud American and South Carolinian, and he loves his community.

Harriet was married to the late Bill James and they have a daughter, Meloni James, and a son, Van James. She enjoys spending time at the beach with family and friends.

Eddie Kerr, a native of West Union, is a licensed funeral director and embalmer. He has been on staff with The McDougald Funeral Home since 1966. He is a 1969 graduate of the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science. He is a member of Pi Sigma Eta fraternity, the National Funeral Directors Association, the South Carolina Funeral Directors Association, the Georgia Academy of Graduate Embalmers, the Elks Lodge #1206 and numerous other civic and professional organizations. Eddie is also a former member of the South Carolina Board of Funeral Service where he served as secretary. He is a member of the First Baptist Church of Anderson and attends Neals Creek Baptist Church. He is married to Patricia Greenway Kerr, also an employee of The McDougald Funeral Home, and they have three children and six grandchildren.

She is a graduate of Forrest College and serves as one of our Family Care and Community Relations associates. She is also an organist and a beautician for the funeral home. She is married to Eddie Kerr, a funeral director with The McDougald Funeral Home, and they have three children and six grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoys her grandchildren and watching The Andy Griffith Show, Hallmark movies, and Lifetime movies.

Wendell Madray

Wendell Madray, originally from Sylvania, GA, has lived in the Upstate since 1991, and he is a licensed funeral director and embalmer. He has been in funeral service since 1976 and is a 1978 graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science. He is a member of the National Funeral Directors Association and the South Carolina Funeral Directors Association. He is married to Donna Lariscy Madray and they have two children, Ryan and Kendall.

Ricky McAdams

Born in Townville, SC, Ricky has been employed with The McDougald Funeral Home since 2000 as a Part-Time Funeral Assistant. He retired after more than 34 years of service from the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce as a District Manager. He is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Double Springs Volunteer Fire Department, Anderson County DSS Advisory Board, and a member of Double Springs Baptist Church. Ricky has lived in Townville all of his life where his family began a long-time farming operation, which Ricky still operates today. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family at his mountain home and playing music with several bands.

Karen McClain

Born in the State of Tennessee, Karen has been on the staff of The McDougald Funeral Home where she has served as a part-time Family Care Receptionist since 2008. She also works with Anderson School District V in the transportation department. Karen is married to Al McClain of McClain Farms where they raised three children, Jason, Whitney and Clay. Karen also has three grandchildren who she loves dearly. Karen and Al are active members of Covenant Baptist Church. Her favorite past-time is to spend quality time with her family.

Beth McConnell

Beth McConnell is a native of Anderson, SC. She is retired from BellSouth Corporation. She graduated from Forrest College, and attended Limestone College and Anderson College. Beth has a Master’s certification in Project Management from George Washington University and is a Certified Facilitator in Management Skills and Quality Assurance. She was the 1992 South Carolina Career Woman of the Year, was on the Planning Committee for and served as Treasurer of the International Quality Conference hosted by BellSouth, was an official 1996 Olympic Volunteer, and is a Life Member of Telephone Pioneers of America.

She has been an associate of The McDougald Funeral Home since 2004 where she serves as family care receptionist. She is a member of Concord Baptist Church in Anderson and a former Sunday School teacher. She is married to Derrill McConnell, the retired Chief of the Anderson City Police Department. They have three children and one grandson. In her spare time, she enjoys swimming, traveling and spending time with her grandson.

Jeff McGuffin

Jeff McGuffin is a native of Anderson, SC and has been on the staff of The McDougald Funeral Home since March 2017 as a part-time funeral assistant. For over thirty years, Jeff has worked as a trucker, and for the last fifteen years, he drove for Kroger Bakery. He is an active member of Temple Baptist Church in Anderson. He and his wife, Lynn, have three children, Leslie, Katie, and Paul, and three grandchildren. In his spare time, Jeff enjoys horseback riding, boating and spending time with family and friends.

Mike Rippy

Mike Rippy moved to Anderson from Bluffton, SC in 2010, with his wife, Janet. They embraced the community by becoming involved in Outreach with Grace Episcopal Church where they are very active members. Mike spends much free time volunteering time and talent to support the Greater Anderson Community. Mike appreciates the opportunity to care for people in his capacity with McDougald Funeral Home. His five children and nine grandchildren are scattered throughout the US. Mike and Janet have met wonderful people and made great friends in Anderson. They have found Anderson to be a great place to call “home.”

Debra Whitmire

Debra Whitmire is a native of Anderson, and has been on staff as a Family Care Receptionist with The McDougald Funeral Home since 2005. She is an active member of Middleton Road Baptist Church where she has served as pianist for over 24 years and in various other positions. She is married to Billy Whitmire and they have one son and three grandchildren. In her spare time she enjoys reading, cooking, gardening, and walking.

Cory Young

Part-Time Funeral Assistant

Originally from Bartow, FL Cory grew up in Athens, Ga. He received his undergraduate degree from Erskine College and then went on to The University of Georgia and earned his Masters Degree in Student Personnel in Higher Education. Cory then returned to Erskine College where he worked for 20 years in both Student Services and Admissions and finished his tenure as Director of Admissions. Now living in Due West, Cory enjoys traveling, spending time with his family, yard work, playing golf, and working out. Cory believes that working at The McDougald Funeral Home is a true ministry and the opportunity to serve others is both a joy and a calling.
